RETINA ARTIFACTS
Vintage Stethoscope
"Although not frequently used, the stethoscope plays a key role in the retina specialists office. It is used to check blood pressure to rule out hypertensive retinopathy and is imperative for a comprehensive evaluation of retinal health.
Pictured is an early flexible binaural stethoscope with articulated joints. First invented by Arthur Leared in 1851, an Irish physician, later improved and commercialized in 1852 by George Cammann, MD, from New York."
